Legitimacy Drift

The gradual erosion of trust in institutions when leaders, media, and systems fail to act within their proper lanes. Drift occurs when citizens no longer know which authority to trust, and when institutions contradict one another in public. Drift produces fear, polarization, and civic instability. Legitimacy depends on correct grammar — when institutions misread reality, legitimacy collapses.
