A cognitive state in which the boundary between self and external influence is thin, making a person highly susceptible to emotional contagion, narrative absorption, and crowd alignment. Porous cognition develops when formation fails to build internal structure — such as restraint, judgment, and identity stability. Individuals with porous cognition often adopt the emotional stance of the group, not because they lack intelligence, but because their internal architecture was never reinforced.
